One person, start to finish

I'm Stephen Wheeler — a CAA-licensed and fully insured drone pilot based in rural Essex. I've been flying commercially since 2021, with years of experience flying UAVs and model helicopters long before the word "drone" entered everyday language.

I carry out all filming and video editing personally — so you deal with one person from start to finish. In addition to aerial drone filming, I use 360° cameras for immersive ground-level and vehicle-mounted video, as well as handheld cameras for interior and detail work.

All footage is professionally edited in-house, with colour correction, licensed music and titles included.

Before Wheeler Drone Shots, I spent decades running my own business in the campervan and outdoor leisure industry — designing, building and marketing products. That experience taught me something most drone operators don't have: an understanding of what the customer needs to see, not just how to fly. When I plan and film your video, I'm thinking about what will make someone pick up the phone or click "book now" — because I've been doing that for my own business for as long as I can remember.

From Essex to Iceland — twice

In 2023 I drove an electric campervan from the UK to Iceland via Holland, Germany, Denmark and the Faroe Islands — a 3,500-mile round trip, believed to be the first ever completed by an electric campervan. In 2025 I did it again, this time in a Tesla with a roof camper.

Along the way I filmed both journeys with my drone and 360° cameras, producing a series of videos that have been watched by thousands. The experience taught me how to film in every condition imaginable — volcanic landscapes, dramatic coastlines, highland passes and North Atlantic weather.

I've also filmed across the Shetland Isles and in rural France, as well as inside large exhibition halls. Whether it's a windmill at sunset in Essex or a campervan threading through an Icelandic valley, I've done it — and I bring that experience to every job, however big or small.
